driving for dreams 2007 dvd

Sunday the 11th of February 2007 saw a Western Australian record broken, with 160 Porsches of all models and years gather at Fremantle Prison for the inaugural Driving for Dreams convoy. The event was held to raise money for Make-A-Wish® Australia, with a grand total of $53,500 raised on the day. The Porsches left Fremantle Prison in a giant convoy of over 1km long, with a 12 vehicle police escort. The convoy travelled to Belmont race course and then onto the Hyatt, where VIP passengers walked down the ‘blue’ carpet! Over 190 Porsches went on display at Langley Park in front of the Hyatt, whilst 400 people attended the charity auction in the Grand Ballroom at the Hyatt. Fifty of the Porsches on the day carried the most precious cargo of all, wish children and their families. The children and their parents had a wow of a day and just could not stop talking about the cars, the people they met and the things they did. What a wonderful way to share a day, have lots of fun and raise funds for a truly special cause!

Who’s counting, but the convoy included the following Porsches:

In addition to the convoy, which easily broke the record for the largest Porsche convoy ever assembled in Western Australia, the day also included a Motorkhana at the Belmont Race Course. The crowd watched six WA Porsche Club members show off their specialised driving skills in a Motorkhana extravaganza.

After a bit of sporting action, over 400 drivers and passengers retired to the Grand Ball Room at the Hyatt Regency Hotel for a charity auction. The centrepiece was a genuine classic 1969 911 Porsche which sold for $27,000.
