The Wishes That Came True

Wishes granted

By far the most successful fundraising event held in Western Australia in 2007, Driving for Dreams raised a phenomenal $53,500 for Make-A-Wish ® Australia. As an organisation which receives no ongoing government funding and therefore relies solely on the generosity of community and corporate donors, such support is greatly appreciated not only by Make-A-Wish ® Australia staff and volunteers, but also our very special wish recipients and their families.

Fiona Gardener, State Manager WA/SA for Make-A-Wish ® Australia tells us that “without the support of the Porsche Club of Western Australia, participating drivers and their guests, sponsors and donors on the day, we simply would not be in a position to continue granting wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses right across Western Australia. Not only did the event raise a hugely significant amount of funds for Make-A-Wish ® Australia, but also gave our wish recipients and their families a day to treasure and remember forever. We continue to receive feedback from everyone involved in the day – a magical experience for all!”

Make-A-Wish ® Australia grants an average of more than 50 wishes in Western Australia each year. Each and every wish is special in its own unique way however we are pleased to have been able to raise funds this year which have assisted in granting the following wishes:

I wish to go… TO HAWAII WITH MY FAMILY!

I wish to meet…THE WIGGLES!

I wish to have… A LAPTOP PACKAGE!

I wish to go… TO THE AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX (how appropriate!)

I wish to have… A SHOPPING SPREE!

“It really is difficult to explain just how much these wishes have meant to the wish recipients and their families”, said Ms Gardener. “I think one of our wish parents really summed it up best of all however when she told me quite plainly that sometimes the words thank-you are simply just not enough.”
